Olympian Aly Raisman Made This One Major Lifestyle Change to Bring Her Peace
View Date:2025-01-09 18:44:14
Aly Raisman knows how to stick the landing when it comes to her own wellbeing.
The retired gymnast—who has long stressed the importance of mental health—has found that limiting her screen time has made a huge difference in her ability to relax.
"I'm really trying to be more present when I'm with people," Aly exclusively told E! News' Francesca Amiker, "and not be on my phone as much, which has really helped my mental health. Because I think when I'm present, I feel more relaxed and more calm."
And while the 30-year-old does find herself getting anxious because she can't keep up with all her unread texts, she noted there's "a very difficult balance" between responding to friends and family virtually, but still being present in the moment.
Still, Aly loves having the ability to unplug, especially because she feels it gives her "permission to just relax" and "disconnect from everything."
She uses some of that time to hang with her beloved dog Mylo, who is also quite the introvert.
"I see a lot of myself in him," she explained, noting that they both share some anxious tendencies. "I can read him very well, where sometimes he wants his alone time in his space, and I feel like I'm the same way."
And Aly is incredibly thankful to have the very good boy in her life, adding, "He's the best part of my everyday wellness."
But it's not just her and Mylo's mental health that the Olympian focuses on, but also their physical health, which is why she's teamed up with EverRoot dog supplements to ensure her 4-year-old pup is just as healthy as she is.
"Obviously I want the best for my dog," she told E!, "so I'm always looking for ways that I can help him feel his best too."
As Aly explained, she's very careful with what she puts into her own body and pays close attention to the ingredients of what she buys, so she can see how different foods affect her and help her feel her best.
She added, "I was so excited when I saw that I could give Milo some of the things that make me feel really good, too."
